FoolDNS knows that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. This is how we want to be treated, too.
FoolDNS runs a Domain Name System (DNS) service. DNS translates the name (e.g., www.example.com) you type into the corresponding numerical address (e.g., 18.104.22.168) and gets you to the place you want to go. FoolDNS’s DNS service collects non-personally-identifying information such as the date and time of each DNS request and the domain name requested.
In addition, FoolDNS may also collects potentially personally-identifying information like the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from which DNS requests are made. For its DNS services, FoolDNS temporarily stores logs to monitor and improve our quality of service, and to collect high-level aggregate statistics. For customers without an account, FoolDNS removes the IP address from its logs within 1 hour (see Error Tolerance). For customers with an account, such data may be stored for 30 + 30 business days (see Error Tolerance) in order to comply with the need of providing business users the end-of-month report of usage and archive of past month information.
For customers using FoolDNS blocking and/or filtering features, DNS requests for certain domains may cause a request on an HTTP server owned by FoolDNS. The data from the HTTP server is kept in un-aggregated form for 30 business days (see Error Tolerance) for technical reasons.
After this time an automated process physically REMOVES personally-identifying information (IP address) by OVERWRITING the original IP with a new aggregate one in the form of 127.0.0.x domain and only non-personally-identifying information (the domain requested, the number of queries, etc..) are kept in our database. For example, FoolDNS may monitor which domains are most requested by its customers, or how many phishing attempts were blocked by its services, but NEVER in a way that is using personally-identifying information (simply because we do NOT OWN personally-identifying information anymore…). FoolDNS may displays this information publicly or provide it to others and business partners in a non-personally identifiable aggregated form (e.g. statistical form).
FoolDNS WILL NOT aggregate personally-identifying information about the behavior of visitors to its websites and customers of its DNS services. NEVER.
We may receive and store certain types of non-personally identifiable information whenever you interact with us, including, without limitation, the sort information that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. FoolDNS’s purpose in collecting such information is to better understand how FoolDNS’s visitors use its website. From time to time, FoolDNS may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. FoolDNS also collects potentially personally-identifying information like the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of website visitors. The data from the HTTP server is kept for 30 business days (see Error Tolerance) for technical reasons.
We may receive and store any information you enter on our website or provide to us in any other way. For example, in order to use certain services or functions of our websites, you may be required to register with a username and email address on the FoolDNS website. FoolDNS collects such information only insofar as is it deems reasonably necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the user’s interaction with FoolDNS. In addition to this FoolDNS may use a cooking for storing your action of abiding with the Terms of Services.
You can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent you from engaging in certain activities.
All statistics and logs collected on behalf of an account holder are purged after the time above described. FoolDNS WILL NOT retain personal information (IP addresses) information for longer periods of time (see Error Tolerance).
We neither rent nor sell your personal information to anyone. Never. We share your personal information only with your consent or to our business partners and affiliates as described below:
Other Disclosures: FoolDNS may disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information (only within the given limits, see “DNS Services Customers”) when FoolDNS believe in good faith that release is required by law, court order, or when FoolDNS believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of FoolDNS, third parties or the public at large. We do not abide violence in any form.
Any given time span in this document is subject to an Error of +/- 50%. That means that log files and/or personal information could be kept for (for example) 45 days where this Policy states 30 days or 30 minutes where this Policy states 1 hour. This 50% increment or decrement is due to technical reason who could interfere with logging and/or anonymysation process and/or power or network failures. Rest assured that once the time span has passed NO PART of FoolDNS infrastructure (neither physical machines, nor backups) contain personal-identification data.
We’re very sorry to need this “safe harbour” time, but we much prefer to be earnest than to be fooling you in saying that nothing bad can happen in our machines.
